Plus if a windows install is needed, you do not have to redownload content etc, as it is on another harddrive well away from C: drive. T:ANE is very felxible where you can store your content, just need to remember to rebrowse to the "master" folder. Or you can have the "Master" folder somewhere else.just path browse to ithe "Master" folder via the Launcher > trainz settings > Install. This "Master" (UserData) folder I made within the trainz installation folder.Įg: D:\ N3V \ T:ANE \ UserData. Within this "Master" folder is the Original, Local, Packages folders and T:ane will add other files like the asset.tdx etc and the folders Backups, Screenshots etc to it. I called the "master" folder - "UserData" and this folder is where I browse to via the Launcher > trainz settings >install. My trainz versions are steam version, boxed retail, digital (non steam) and beta versions.Įach version has their own "Master: folder for the downloaded and or purchased content. I have all my Trainz version on drives away from C drive. Pc's can be tempermental things and sometimes background software can sometimes cause glitches or even a power failure etc. I have not had any issues with a virus from the download station and have been downloading since 2006 approx. Though it is very rare for the pathing to change now. :) Sometimes trainz may have a hiccup and pathing get's reverted etc, but normally the problem can be recorrected. I hope that the folks at N3V Games check to see if there are any viruses before uploading that content to the Download Station !! I will follow your very detailed instructions you were kind enogh to send me today ! Thank you much for your kind attention to my technical problems ! It is greatly appreciated ! Have a pleasant day Kiwigal !! And, the virus can have a timer and be set to download the virus within TANE at another time and cause technical issues. So, whomever then downloads that content, that person would get the virus. Someone who uploaded content to the Download Station could possibly have put a virus within the content. TANE should not have just disappeared on me !!! This never happened. This may be why I am having technical issues. Anyway, the install file for TANE is on C drive. ![]() Whenever i install a game on the E drive, some of the program automatically goes to the C drive - user data. The C drive should only have the operating system and some other important programs but not games. I was told that the C drive should not be used for installing games and other kinds of software. ![]() TANE is actually on my E drive only because I have a lot of free space. However, I did purchase TANE using Steam. Thank you for all of this ! It is greatly appreciated !!! On my C drive, that is where the backups reside. Hello Kiwigal !!! I must say you are the best !!! You are so smart ! Maybe you should work for Trainz Support ! You can very easily be a tech rep !! You gave me lots of very important and useful information. Hope this helps a little bit and not too confusing. If you are still having lots of problems, and the above has not solved your issues, best to contact support and submit a ticket. If you want to do this, you then copy the other original, local and packages folder (which has your content) to your new folder, shut Trainz down completely, then restart and perform a manual Database repair if it did not start automatically. ![]() Then you browse to this new folder via the Launcher > Trainz settings > Install tab. The folder can be named anything you want. I recommend making a folder either inside where you installed Trainz or seperate (not on c drive) for your content. If from a 3rd party site and you have not kept a backup, you may/should, beable to redownload from the site. If it is, it should download automatically. If so, just do a pc search, then rebrowse to that via the launcher as above. If the folders are empty, you may have stored your content else where. The folders, local, original and packages should have alot of content (folders) inside, which is a good indicator this is where your content is. The backup also keeps your routes and will have dated folders. The folders original, local, packages are where your content is stored. There are folders called "Original", "Local", packages, backups, cache, libraries, editing and single files: asset-cache.tdx, keystore.tdx, assets.tdx. The default path (from memory) is C:\Users\Rhiannon\AppData\Local username > N3V Games. Did the path reset to default (if you made a folder elsewhere for your dls, user made routes and bought content) or did you keep it at default when your installed trainz prior to you losing your content?.
